History and ownership
Built in 1989 by McTay Marine, the Sd Moorhen Vessel originally served as the RMAS Moorhen until 2008.
Currently owned and managed by Serco, this 'Moor' class powered mooring lighter and diving support vessel has a long history of providing maritime services under the UK flag.
Technical details
With a 140-tonne deadweight capacity and a shallow 2.0-metre draught, the vessel is built for coastal operations. It is a diving/offshore support vessel with twin-shaft propulsion powered by Cummins four-stroke, six-cylinder diesel engines.
Operational area
The vessel predominantly operates in UK waters, particularly along the Scottish coast and Inner Seas. Regular routes involve support assignments with port calls at Kyle of Lochalsh, Dunstaffnage, Campbeltown and Greenock.
