History and ownership
The Living Stone Vesselwas built at LaNaval (Sestao/Bilbao, Spain), launched on the 18th Sep 2016 and completed in July 2018 for DEME/Tideway.
It has worked on offshore wind and interconnector campaigns, including Moray East Offshore Windfarm array cabling and the Zeus subsea cable linking the UK with mainland Europe.
Technical details
Four dual-fuel Wärtsilä 34DF engines supply a diesel-electric plant that can run on LNG.
Cable systems include two 5,000-tonne below-deck turntables (over 200 km per trip) plus optional 2,000-tonne deck carousel, with ~3,500 m² clear deck and craneage for trenching tools/ROVs.
Operational area
Assignments span North Sea renewables and export/HVDC links.
Crew and lifestyle
Living Stone jobs can include DP operations, cable teams, ROV/trenching and marine crew. Accommodation is for up to 100, expect STCW competencies, DP certification and strict permit-to-work routines
