History and ownership

Built in 2015 by B. Marshall Marine Ltd in Middlesbrough, the Dsv Curtis Marshall Vessel is a purpose-built dive support ship designed for the renewable energy sector. 

It was the first commercial dive support vessel built entirely on Teesside in decades. Owned by B. Marshall Marine, it regularly supports offshore wind projects, UXO investigations, and ROV surveys.

Propelled by twin Doosan 4V158TIH engines, it achieves an economical speed of 10 knots. It features a fully integrated IMCA D023-standard 3-diver system, a decompression chamber, and a walkabout control system for full vessel manoeuvrability. 

Operational area

The vessel calls at ports such as Hartlepool and operates mainly in the North Sea. It handles assignments across UK offshore wind farms, including the East Anglia Offshore Wind Farm.  

Crew and lifestyle

Accommodating up to 18 personnel, Dsv Curtis Marshall jobs include commercial divers, ROV operators, and survey technicians. Living conditions include twin and triple berths, sinks, a galley, and a mess room with a TV.

As smaller offshore vessels go, the boat is fairly comfortable. It is loud and the showers are shared but each cabin is large enough and has a sink. Cabin was slightly damp but bed comfy. Food was good for a small vessel. There’s a seating area/day room down in the bow. Overall absolutely fine for shorter jobs

• Vessel - very noisy, extremely rolly. I don't get seasick but had some colleagues really struggling. • Accommodation - mouldy mattresses and pillows. Shared cabins with shared WC and showers. • Connection - WiFi is monitored, NO coverage in accommodation. • Skipper was an awful bully, I've never experienced such an uncensored, vile outpouring of disdain for minority groups (including their own cook at the time) in the workplace. Avoid if you can, not worth the toll on your physical and mental health.

• Vessel - is self built locally so equipment, materials and finishing is very simple and low cost which is very quickly reflected on working equipment etc. WC and showers are really outdated. • Accommodation - cold steel beds, mattress are riddled with mould, pillows and sheets are yellow. Most likely sharing cabins with opposite shift • Connection - WiFi is monitored no privacy and most of things are blocked, NO coverage in lower cabins • Noise pollution - this is incredibly loud vessels. Say no to sleep unless in port. • Health and Safety, Company Management, Captain or person in charge - shockingly low standards, with minimum regards to safety or anti bullying measures, No real commercial experience, running low key, cutting corners where possible. Watch out for yourselves and don’t let anyone bullying you. If you report to the management you will be ignored. • Positive is they pay on time however double check

Very poor quality of vessel to work on Company not good to work for . Long hours improper management . No off time facilities , access and exit monitored heavily . Beds mouldy , AC doesn’t work , WiFi very restrictive and monitored by office and captain
