Accommodations are substandard—four people cramped into a small stateroom with stained, uncomfortable mattresses and linens that are often unclean and stained uncomfortable pillows. Cleanliness is a persistent issue throughout the vessel, especially in the galley. Despite having a full-time cook, the food quality is consistently poor. High crew turnover, without clear cause, likely reflects poor management both onboard and ashore. Maintenance is disruptive and constant—needle gunning goes on all day, every day as years of neglect are suddenly being addressed. Many members of crew seem largely inexperienced, appearing to be fresh or recently out of schools with minimal time at sea. On the upside, the Wi-Fi is fast. Still, both the U.S. Navy and ECO should expect—and deliver—better.
