The Orient Adventurer (IMO: 9664706) is a premier offshore construction and cable-laying vessel with a rich operational history spanning three continents. Originally delivered in 2014 by Norway's Ulstein Verft shipyard, the vessel first entered service under the name Polar Onyx for its inaugural owner, GC Rieber Shipping. During its early years, it was chartered by Ceona for deepwater projects in Brazil and later served major clients like Petrobras and Chevron. In February 2022, the vessel was acquired by the Taiwan-based offshore wind service conglomerate Dong Fang Offshore (DFO), a subsidiary of Hung Hua Construction, and was subsequently renamed Orient Adventurer. Under its current ownership, the ship has undergone a significant conversion into a dedicated cable-layer, supporting the offshore wind market in Southeast Asia and Europe through a long-term charter with DeepOcean.
