The OBANA (IMO: 8764119) is a massive, non-self-propelled heavy-lift jack-up platform and construction maintenance vessel renowned as one of the world's largest self-elevating decommissioning assets. Built upon the hull of a 1999 drilling rig, the vessel was completely transformed through an engineering feat orchestrated by offshore operator Petrodec and Damen Shipyards. The circular conversion merged 85% recycled steel from two legacy jack-up units (the Brage and Gabrus) with a custom, newly built mid-section crafted in Dubai. Operating primarily across the UK Southern North Sea and key European ports like Rotterdam and Vlissingen, the six-legged giant boasts a vast open deck space and a formidable 2,000-tonne main crane.
