History and ownership

Built in 2010 by De Hoop Shipyard, the N Sea Pathfinder Vessel (IMO: 9545663), formerly Noordhoek Pathfinder, is owned by Hanzevast Shipping and operated by N-Sea for multi-purpose subsea missions.

Technical details

  • LOA: 61.87 metres

  • Width (beam): 12.82 metres

  • Deadweight: 1,810 tonnes

  • Draught: 4.5 metres

Propelled by a diesel-electric system, she holds Navis DP2 classification. Capacities include 40 personnel, 360m² deck space, and three moonpools. She conducts seabed mapping with Reson 7125 Multibeam sonars and operates a 25mT Sormec crane.

Operational area

Operating primarily in the North Sea, regular ports include IJmuiden, Beverwijk, and Aberdeen.

Crew and lifestyle

Accommodating 40 personnel, the ship’s facilities feature a messroom, client offices, and a gym.

Recent N Sea Pathfinder crew reviews support clean living conditions and Wi-Fi. For N Sea Pathfinder jobs, expect project-specific safety inductions and offshore certification requirements.

Environmental initiatives

Her main engines are EPA Tier 3 and IMO II compliant for low emissions. A hybrid survey mode reduces fuel consumption to just 4m³/day, and strict offshore waste management protocols maximise environmental sustainability.

Cabins were usual en suite with bunks - average size, fairly clean and not too dated. Food was excellent with a range of choices. Gym was good for size of vessel. Crew mostly pleasant and mess room/day room had plenty of space and TV options. Boat also fairly quiet and clean. Had a few wifi issues to start with but they were fixed quickly.

Pros: People onboard are very friendly, and main meals were pretty tasty The gym was excellent for the size of the vessel. Cabins are clean, and bedding/towels are quite new. Cons: Cabins are small, with some being 4 man. Snacks could be better.

The food is very good, the crew are friendly and the atmosphere is enjoyable. For a relatively small boat it has good facilities. Gym is well kitted out, large mess and TV. Fast Internet with good data allowance.
