The Maersk Viridis is a cutting-edge Wind Turbine Installation Vessel (WTIV) designed to lead the charge in offshore renewable energy. As the flagship of the Maersk Offshore Wind fleet, this 40,000-tonne vessel features a 1,900-tonne crane capable of installing the world’s largest 15MW+ turbines. What sets the Viridis apart is its innovative feeder-based installation concept, which allows the ship to stay stationary at sea while smaller vessels ferry components to it—a method that can boost installation efficiency by up to 30%. Currently Jones Act-compliant, it is set to begin its maiden mission at the Empire Wind project off the coast of New York.
