For the first fifteen years of its operational life, the 89.95-metre vessel operated under the name ESPRIT while flying the flag of the Netherlands. In May 2026, the vessel underwent a comprehensive registry update, officially changing its name to FRI WAVE, transitioning its flag to the Bahamas, and adopting the new call sign C6JZ3. Managed commercially by Rivermaas BV with technical management handled by Vertom Bereederungs GMBH, the vessel has a deadweight carrying capacity of 4,450 tonnes and primarily services ports throughout Northern Europe and the United Kingdom.
