CARBON DESTROYER 1
The Carbon Destroyer 1 is a specialized offshore CO2 carrier, the first of its kind built in Europe. It is a critical link in the Project Greensand initiative, designed to transport captured carbon for permanent storage.
  • Year Built: 2025–2026. It was officially launched and christened on May 14, 2025. Following completion and sea trials in March 2026, it is moving toward full operational status.

  • Operational Role: It operates as a "shuttle" between the Port of Esbjerg in Denmark and the depleted Nini oil field, where the CO2 is injected 1,800 meters below the seabed.
