History and ownership

Built in Norway in 2014, the Boka Spearfish vessel has operated as Siem Spearfish and BOKA Spearfish. It was briefly rebranded as SEA1 Spearfish before being acquired by Boskalis in 2025.

Today, it executes complex deepwater subsea installations worldwide.

Technical details

  • LOA: 120.9 metres

  • Width (beam): 23 metres

  • Deadweight: 5,250 tonnes

  • Draught: 6.6 metres

Diesel-electric machinery drives two Rolls-Royce Comtaz azimuth thrusters, plus side and swing-up thrusters. DP2 uses Kongsberg K-Pos DP-21 with DGPS, HiPAP, Radius and CyScan references.

Operational area

The vessel routinely operates across the North Sea and Norwegian Sea. Regular routes include servicing the Brent Oil Field with frequent port calls in Lerwick and Peterhead to support heavy subsea assignments.

Crew and lifestyle

Accommodating 110 personnel across single and double cabins, Boka Spearfish jobs likely support a range of offshore engineering roles.

Positive Boka Spearfish crew reviews highlight comfortable living conditions, quiet cabins (COMF-NOISE 3 class notation), and adherence to DP2 maritime safety procedures.

Environmental initiatives

The vessel targets lower fuel consumption through its hull form and diesel-electric machinery, with CLEANSHIP and GREEN PASSPORT EU notations.

Was in a 2 man cabin was small but tidy. Was no tv onboard first trip but added a few Norwegian channels for worldcup. Without a doubt in my 20yrs in industry has to be worst food i have had , plus ran out of basic things like milk half way through trip. Gym is decent 3 people fill it thought. Wifi was very poor but did start to improve

It's a Good vessel, but need to improve in some points. The food is made with to much oil. There a few healthy options for eat. The internet is fine, but is slow in some days. The accomodations are very good and the cleaning is perfect. Good vessel to work in.

Worked onboard 2019-22. Really comfy vessel with a mixture of single and 2 man cabins. Food on board was excellent. With all shifts catered for not just day shift. Large TV room and another game room on a different deck. Gym is small but has an efficient use of space and has everything you need weights and cardio. Siems crew wifi was good but as we were chartering it we had our own which was much worse, but if your friendly with the crew they would sort you out with the password ??
