The BODIL KNUTSEN is a highly specialized Suezmax shuttle tanker designed specifically for the demanding environments of offshore oil fields, particularly in the North Sea. Built in 2011 by South Korea's Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering, this massive 285-metre vessel features advanced dynamic positioning systems (DYNPOS-AUTR) and a bow loading system, allowing it to safely connect to and load crude oil directly from offshore platforms and floating production storage units (FPSOs) without mooring. Flying the Norwegian flag and operated by Knutsen OAS Shipping, the vessel boasts a substantial deadweight capacity of 157,644 tonnes and holds a high ice-class rating (ICE-1A), making it robust enough to maintain steady, continuous energy supply chains through harsh Arctic conditions and freezing waters.
