The BBC MAINZ (IMO: 1049625) is a cutting-edge general cargo and multipurpose heavy-lift vessel that officially came online in 2026. Built by the Taizhou Sanfu Shipbuilding yard in China for Germany's Briese Schiffahrts, this 149.95-metre eco-friendly ship belongs to the advanced "LakerMax" or BBC-13K-500A fleet type, specially designed to maximize cargo capacity while navigating restricted waterways like the Great Lakes or St. Lawrence Seaway. Flying the flag of Antigua & Barbuda, the ship features a deadweight of approximately 13,000 tonnes, a unique triple-deck configuration, and two powerful port-side cranes capable of combined heavy lifts up to 500 metric tonnes. Since its launch in March 2026, the vessel has been commercially operated by BBC Chartering, actively serving volatile international trade routes across East Asia and the Pacific.
